Kate has over 10 years of experience in the private, non-profit, and governmental sectors. A trained project manager, she has expertise across a range of industries, including environmental sustainability, defense, retail, and hospitality. Kate has a strong background in ethnography and has particular interest in research related to the way culture and physical environments intersect and interact. She holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology and a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan.
Something unique about you summed up in one sentence
I own a chainsaw and also false eyelashes, I worry about the disappearance of adverbs from the English language and my dream is to own a farm with goats.

How long have you been in the UX field?
My job title has officially contained “UX” for over a year, but in many ways I have been doing it under other auspices for most of my career.
Your favorite city in the world is...and why?
The ones I haven’t visited yet! My favorite thing about our work is that it takes us all over the world, where we get to learn about and experience new places and cultures.

Phyllis Diller, Lily Tomlin, Tig Notaro and Nora Ephron.
Long-term personal or professional goal?
I’m dead serious about the farm thing – when I retire, I’d like to buy a blueberry farm and raise goats.

For a brief while, I worked as a television extra. You can see me in the background of several episodes of Chicago Fire!
