Ryan’s background is at the intersection of research and storytelling. This experience allows him to effectively find qualitative and quantitative trends with a product and craft an effective narrative around those trends. With 8 years of experience in the UX field, Ryan executed projects with multiple methods and approaches, spanning multiple industries, including automotive, energy, and consumer technology. Ryan has also worked on medical studies across various stages of development, from early formative to validation, and a wide variety of devices. A member of UXPA, Ryan has an MA in Digital Storytelling and MS in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University.

The people! Work is so much more enjoyable when you like the folks you work with.

In your spare time (or if you had spare time), you would absolutely do this:

Summer: Ride my bicycle around a new town and find geocaches. Winter: Hide in my basement and work on my Lego city.

How long have you been in the UX field?

10+ years

You cannot start the day without doing this…

Giving my dog head scratches and a belly rub. Better than a cup of coffee (although coffee is a close second).

Your ultimate celebrity dinner party guest list would include:

Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, John O’Hurley, and Steve Harvey. And our dinner conversation topic would be how great Family Feud is.

Long-term personal or professional goal?

I would like to eventually have executed fieldwork on every continent. I’m currently at four continents (North and South America, Asia, and Europe). Australia and Africa shouldn’t be too difficult if the right project comes along…. Antarctica is a bit of a stretch-goal.

Any other facts to share?

I believe it is morally wrong for people to reheat pizza in a microwave. Please please please use an oven (conventional or toaster). Only you can prevent soggy crusts.
