This week, Bold Insight Managing Partner Gavin Lew will give the opening talk at a three-day online UX/UI designathon hosted by Userframe. The event will challenge participants to redesign a product or experience with mentorship and live judging from experienced UX professionals.
During the presentation, If you build it, will they care? Innovation depends on UX more than code or tech, Lew will kick off the Designathon by pushing teams to start by understanding the problem, rather than chasing friction points or missing features. Through case studies of successful innovations and the products that preceded them, he’ll explore what can be learned from both, busting a few myths along the way.
“Real innovation starts with understanding the human experience by designing for what people need,” said Lew. “Get that right, and the result isn’t just useful; it’s engaging.”
Drawing from his book, AI and UX: Why Artificial Intelligence Needs User Experience, co-authored with Robert Schumacher, Lew will explain how context, interaction, and trust set the foundation for a reimagined product experience.
The designathon will take place virtually August 28–30, 2026. Visit the event website to learn more.
