This month, Bold Insight team members will attend and present at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) 2024 Symposium. The event will connect professionals including human factors experts, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, biomedical engineers, healthcare providers, FDA representatives, and patient safety researchers to expand their networks and acquire insights into the latest innovations in human factors and healthcare.
In an effort to support the human factors engineering (HFE) community and benefit from the bright minds gathering in Chicago, Bold Insight is conducting a conference-wide research project to explore the potential role of artificial intelligence (AI) in activities throughout the medical device product development and post-market lifecycle. Attendees will be invited to engage in a collective exploration of where AI-enabled tools and processes can support and share ways AI has been leveraged for HFE activities. Insights will be displayed in real-time for conference attendees, and full results will be disseminated to survey respondents.
“Conducting human factors and usability research primarily in healthcare, our team is enthusiastic about fostering collaboration with colleagues,” said Korey Johnson, Managing Partner at Bold Insight. “We are curious to hear attendees’ perspectives on current practices, potential future applications, and the risks and benefits associated with employing AI to support HFE activities. These findings will create a valuable resource for informed decision-making within the field.”
Several Bold Insight team members are also program session contributors, sharing the following oral and poster presentations:
- Improving medical device usability by reducing complexity using a novel predictive models-based user interface assessment tool (Mikaylah Gross, Eli Lilly and Company, Kaitlin Stinson, Courtney Roberts, Stephanie Wiltman)
- Integrating human factors while maintaining your sanity (Elizabeth Wilson, Boston Scientific, Darren Wilson, Department of Veterans Affairs, Jesse Flint)
- A framework for scaling your usability effort and determining what content to include in your submission (Kevin Ten Brink, Hailey Fehrenbach, Jordan Hilgers)
- Alternative approaches for knowledge task assessment in medical device research (Courtney Roberts, Kristen Kauphusman)
- How to make sure your SaMD conforms to HF standards post-release (Anke Adenwala, Allison Paul)
The 2024 HFES International Symposium will take place on March 24-27 in Chicago, IL. Be sure to stop by Bold Insight’s booth during the exhibition! Visit the event website to register and learn more.
